Get to know our directors
Chief Executive Stuart McLean has played a key role in Zonal's rapid growth and development. The son of Ralph McLean, who founded the business in 1979, Stuart has worked his way up through the ranks in various positions in the company, he was appointed Chief Executive in 1997.
Under Stuart's direction Zonal recently celebrated its 37th anniversary and now supplies over 9,000 leisure and hospitality businesses across the UK.
Peter EdwardsChief Operating Officer
Product strategy, research and development, IT, service and operations all come under Peter's remit. Prior to this he was managing director of Micros in 2007 and before that MD at RedSky Hospitality & Retail. He has also worked as customer services director at Innsite Hotel Services and held senior posts at Multiassistencia UK, Software Vineyard UK and Financial Intelligence & Research.
When not at work he enjoys sailing and music.
Carl PlucknettChief Financial Officer
Responsible for Finance and Human Resources, Carl is a Chartered Accountant and has held senior posts at Unipart International, RedSky IT and Micros Retail UK. He was Chief Financial Officer at ZBD Displays from 2008 to 2012 and subsequently at Intrinsic Technology, has been in his current post since January 2014.
Married with three children, Carl enjoys swimming, cycling and supporting Tigers and Foxes, that's Leicester's rugby union and Leicester City FC.
Clive ConsterdineSales and Marketing Director
Clive joined Zonal Retail Data Systems in August 2010 and has 35 years experience in the UK Leisure Industry including 20 years in operations in Director roles at European Leisure Plc, and later with Regent Inns Plc where he was responsible for the rollout of Walkabout Inns and Jongleurs Comedy Clubs. Since 2000, Clive has held Sales and Marketing Director roles selling technology solutions to the Hospitality sector.
When he's not developing new business relationships, Clive enjoys travelling the world, spending time with his family and friends, skiing, and playing golf. He recently visited India as part of the companys Hope For Children Your Business, Their Lives campaign which Zonal is a corporate sponsor of.
James McLeanProperty Director
James manages Zonal's properties and serviced office business though our subsidiary company Edinburgh Office. James has previously worked for Hardware Engineering, Zonal Product QA, Helpcentre Management and Property Management.
Married with a little boy, James enjoys being outdoors, be it skiing in the winter or hill walking or mountain biking in the summer.
Howard McLeanSpecial Projects Director
Howard has worked for Zonal since 1981 in different roles and once ran the family hotel that funded the birth of the company. He studied Hotel and Catering Management at Napier University. Today he is responsible for the Zonal Business Systems team providing custom exports and full reporting on the Zonal suite of products.
Father to three daughters, he once coached a girls' football team but is now more likely to be found visiting the pub for his quiz team nights or at the cinema.
Robin supports the family business as a non-executive director at Zonal.
Joel ChapmanAccount Services Director
Joel, who joined the Zonal team in 2002, has a wealth of experience in client services working for multinational brands including Panasonic and Comtrex Systems Corporation. He is responsible for account management, working with the Zonal team to ensure that they deliver the highest possible standards of customer care.
Outside of work, Joel is a mad Chelsea FC fan and enjoys a round of golf or two.
Helen McMillianDirector of Online Commerce
Helen has been with Zonal since May 2013, overseeing an exciting time for online commerce, as the new Acquire platform comes to market.
Helen's career in the hospitality industry spans three decades, initially as a marketer (she is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing) and latterly in more operational and commercial capacities. Ex Granada, Bass Leisure and European Leisure, she became a freelance consultant in 1998 and had a diverse client base, ranging from the likes of the Greyhound Racing Association, Patisserie Valerie, and Diageo (Malibu) to the Ministry of Sound.
Outside of work she enjoys the Great Outdoors enthusiastically (if not always skilfully)skiing, running, walking, canoeing and sailing. She is also a Trustee of Zonal's adopted charity, Hope for Children and, of course, dedicates herself to enjoying all that the hospitality industry has to offer.
Tim ChapmanDirector of Sales
Tim's responsibilities include sales, support and management of Zonal's SME and Independent Division, he also manages Zonal's nationwide field sales team. He was previously client director at Vianet PLC, senior account manager at Nucleus Data/Brulines and commercial manager for the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR).
Married with two daughters, Tim enjoys playing squash, dog walking with the family, wine and good food.
Simon FrostOperations Director
Simon is responsible for all aspects of the software development cycle incorporating product management, product design, product development, quality assurance (testing) and software release. He also looks after service delivery which includes customer support /Help Centre and customer service management.
His previous experience includes Omnico (formerly Clarity Commerce Solutions Limited) where he was operations director, Business Development at Kinetic Solutions Ltd, Services Director at Micros Fidelio and Customer Services Director at RedSky IT.
Married with two children, Simon enjoys golf, cycling, wine, culture and travel.
Olivia FitzGeraldManaging Director, Marketing Technologies
Olivia re-joined the Zonal team in September 2015 as the new Managing Director of its Marketing Technologies division and will take the lead at online bookings challenger brand liveRES (acquired by Zonal in April 2015) and TXD Digital Marketing.
She brings a wealth of experience in both technology and hospitality from previous roles as UK Managing Director for workforce collaboration specialist Planday, and Regional Director UK and Ireland for Bookatable.
When not booking tables, Olivia is based in London with her partner, an established artist, son and cat. As well as eating out, they spend a lot of time visiting art galleries!
David GallimoreCommercial Product Director, Marketing Technologies
Since leaving university in 2003 David has been totally committed to TXD's development and service. A member of the Zonal executive team since the acquisition of TXD in April 2013, he has helped the wider group deliver joined-up marketing, EPoS and data solutions.
A father of two small children and part of a large multicultural family, he is a huge fan of competitive sport and his main passions are football (Spurs) and Formula 1 (McLaren).
Mike HoodDirector of Technical Services
Mike's responsibilities are field services, managed services, manufacture and repair, logistics, warehouse and purchasing. His past experience includes posts as a technical account manager (Verint Systems), a technical services manager (RedSky), a service manager for Innsite and an electronics engineer at Ferranti.
Mike is married with three children and lists his hobbies as motorbikes, Land Rovers and golf.
Simon CookDirector of Projects and Services
Simon returned to Zonal in July 2016 as Director of Projects and Services, overseeing a team of 72 full and part-time employees.
With a career spanning almost 30 years in the hospitality industry, he brings a wealth of project management and operations experience to the business. In his new role, Simon is responsible for the successful delivery of Zonal's projects from conception to installation and training.
When not working, Simon enjoys spending time with his wife, children and dog. He is a keen runner and recently completed the Lichfield Half Marathon, which helps compensate for his passion for fine dining and wines.
Richard HammondExecutive Vice President Zonal Hospitality Systems Inc
Richard oversees all aspects of the US operation. He joined Zonal in 1989 as a member of the service team and was promoted to account manager and finally service manager. Before that he worked for GEC Avery New Zealand where he rose through the ranks from bench technician to run the electronic repair department.
He is married with a daughter and enjoys rugby, DIY and travelling, plus supporting his daughter's expensive horse riding hobby.
