29-05-07 Zonal's EPoS enables Brookmans Park to run smoothly and efficiently

Brookmans Park is a prestige bar, restaurant, coffee shop and deli complex opened on the site of a former hotel in the Hertfordshire town. Following a £1 million investment by the owners BBL Holdings, there was no possibility of compromising on the quality of the EPoS solution.

Prestige restaurants demand premium EPoS solutions.

BBL Holdings chose Zonal to install its Z500 terminals along with Handheld EPoS terminals and kitchen printers to ensure that Brookmans Park could make the most out of the 340 covers throughout its 5,000 square foot site. The use of Zonal’s Handheld terminals ensures that customers can benefit from premium service whether they are in the coffee shop, bar, restaurant or in any of the three outdoor areas.

Brookmans Park has five EPoS terminals as well as printers in the kitchen in order to offer quality service combined with speed of service.Zonal's EPoS terminals are equally happy in a retail environment.

Described by locals as “ very classy, an asset to the village” with staff that are “professional and friendly [doing] a great job of running a great venue”, Brookmans Park has already attracted the attentions of the socialising elite – hosting the England footballer Jermaine Defoe’s engagement party earlier this month.

Indeed the whole complex has proved to be a roaring success since opening in March this year, attracting a wide range of customers throughout the week, from those who want a coffee and croissant at 7am to those who want to drink in the bar into the small hours on a Friday or Saturday night.

BBL Holdings Director Alastair Bramley said: “Brookmans is busy from the start of the day to late evening, and it is important that the level of service we provide is first rate.

“There is always a high number of staff on the floor of the restaurant and bar and they are able to take orders at the customers table with the hand-held EPoS terminals. It enables them to input customers drinks orders at their table and the orders are transmitted immediately to a member of the bar staff.”

“The drinks can be prepared quickly and brought to the table just a few minutes from when they were ordered. And for those people eating in the restaurant, their drinks can be bought to the table while they are ordering their meals.”

“With so many covers spread across a large area, including outside areas, the EPoS terminals are a major assistance to staff and enable Brookmans to run smoothly and efficiently.”

Food orders taken at the table are also transmitted automatically to a kitchen printer, enabling the chef and his/her team to start preparing the individual dishes.

Alastair added: “We have hundreds of different food and drink items that need to be stocked on a regular basis and Zonal’s terminals make stock control very easy for us.

Fixed and handheld, Zonal's EPoS program works on all EPoS terminals.“It also benefits us in terms of cash accounting and allowing us to see which
items are and aren’t selling across the bar, restaurant, coffee shop and deli.”

Mark Isaac, Zonal Sales Manager said: “We are delighted to give Brookmans Park the opportunity to take advantage of the newest technology in hospitality. It is testament to BBL Holdings that they understand the importance of obtaining the correct hardware and software to maximise their efficiency,
and they can now realise the benefits of their investment. We look forward to supporting them in this and in future hospitality and retail projects.”
