November 2009 marked the start of Zonal Retail Data Systems’ 30th year in business. During this time Zonal has built long term partnerships that develop and enhance the functionality of their business systems to meet the needs of the end-user.

The business success of Zonal’s 30 years track record in providing technology solutions originated in the hospitality industry. This is a key strength, as it has enabled Zonal to design solutions with the industry and the end-user in mind, thereby giving customers tighter control and delivering valuable savings. As Stuart McLean, Managing Director, commented "We are not a technology company with an idea adapted for the hospitality setting, we are a hospitality company that developed technology to overcome problems that we had experienced."

Zonal employs more than 180 UK-based staff and Zonal solutions are installed in more than 5,000 sites, including 15 of the biggest 30 pub companies in the UK. Zonal customers are offered a complete end-to-end solution, including fixed and handheld EPoS software and hardware (designed and manufactured in Edinburgh by Zonal), integrated Chip and PIN payment solutions, kitchen management systems, back office systems and enterprise control software, a full reporting package and value-add peripheral equipment.

Looking to the future, Zonal is expanding into different hospitality sectors such as restaurants, stadia, hotels and other leisure venues. The U.S. market is emerging and Zonal U.S., founded in Florida in 1993, is expanding nationally via reseller channels. The company ethos will continue to be promoted and has been consistent throughout the whole business.
