09-11-11 Tellermate cash counters must be reconfigured for new fifty pound notes

The Bank of England launched new fifty pound notes on November 2nd. These new notes have additional counterfeit properties which affect their weight and differ from those currently in circulation.

If fifty pound notes are to be counted, it will be necessary to make an adjustment to existing Tellermate Cash Counters and will require the new and old type Bank of England notes to be manually separated and counted as different denominations.

Scotland
For any branches currently using Tellermate Cash Counting units installed with Scottish software with new and old settings for each note denomination, the new Bank of England £50 note can be counted using the currently enabled £50N denomination.

The instruction sheets below will help you make the necessary adjustments to your Tellermate cash counters:

All future Tellermate Cash Counters will be supplied with £50N enabled until the old type notes have been completely withdrawn.

For more information about the new fifty pound note, please refer to the new Bank Of England guidance sheet.
