Tracking all EPoS transactions is vital in today's cut-throat hospitality industry to ensure you maximise your sales revenue and ensure that you never sell out of your fastest-selling products explains Clark Beckett. Clark is the co-owner of Blue Moon, one of Edinburgh's top café-bar-restaurant outlets and refers to the time before they installed a Zonal EPoS as the bad old days.
"In the bad old days, it was quite common for drinks to be going across the bar for free or too much change to be handed back to friends on the other side of the bar. With EPoS that just isn't possible. It monitors every transaction that takes place at all times."
Clark added: "The fact that all the transactions are recorded means that I can see which member of staff is taking the most money and conversely, who is taking the least."
"When it comes to stock control and ordering, EPoS comes into its own. The system shows us when stocks of a certain product are low, and we can order more immediately. It means we never run out of anything and can always offer our customers the full range of drinks at all times.
Clark also uses the stock control functions to monitor poorly selling products. "If we see that certain drinks aren't selling well, we can consider whether to stop serving them altogether or offer a promotion to boost their sales."
Although admitting that an EPoS system can initially be expensive, Clark calculated that it quickly pays for itself making it a sound investment for any customer facing organisation.
Underlying all the key advantages of Zonal's EPoS solution, the importance of reliability and ruggedness is a given. "The Blue Moon is open 362 days a year, for almost 90 hours a week, so it is vital that an EPoS system can withstand the pressure of constant use."
"Zonal's terminals are definitely up to the task and the company
has also supported us with training and immediate maintenance assistance
when it has been needed."
