Zonal employees help the homeless
Five employees from our Edinburgh head office are joining an army of fundraisers who will brave the elements this December with only a sleeping bag for comfort to raise funds to help Scotland’s homeless.
Leading the team is Zonal’s chief executive Stuart McLean, who will be joined by property director James McLean, CFO Carl Plucknett, HR Advisor Samantha Culley and Head of Service David Banks.
Both James and Carl took part in last year’s Social Bite’s Sleep in the Park event, raising over £1,200 for the charity, which runs a chain of sandwich shops across Scotland that train and employ homeless staff. This year Zonal has committed to raising a minimum £3,000.
Zonal’s Carl Plucknett said: “The hospitality industry really comes into its own at Christmas when family and friends come together to eat and drink in comfortable and welcoming surroundings. But it’s a tough and lonely time for people living on the street.
“Last year was a challenge and humbling experience, so I’m delighted that Zonal is continuing its support with a larger team and commitment to raise at least £3,000 for this important cause.”
Sleep in the Park will be held in Princes Street Gardens on 9 December.
It is hoped 9,000 people will take part in the sleepout, which will see Liam Gallagher, Deacon Blue, Amy Macdonald and Frightened Rabbit play unplugged.
Comedian Rob Brydon will host the event alongside Scottish Government Ministers, with John Cleese performing a bedtime story.
