Zonal moves out of its traditional home
The Zonal team celebrated its continued growth with a move to new £1 million offices at Tanfield in Edinburgh.
Leading Scottish businessman Sir Brian Stewart officially opened the stylish new headquarters together with members of the McLean family. Accompanying the McLean family in the grand opening were the company directors, staff and Zonal guests who included bankers, lawyers, business partners and other Tanfield occupiers.
The new office will be home to 200 of the company’s 330 strong, and growing team. Over the last four years, Zonal has trebled its workforce to meet increasing demand for its products, which range from traditional EPoS till systems to mobile ordering and kitchen management systems.
Stuart McLean, Zonal’s chief executive said: “We are really proud of what we’ve achieved over the last 35 years and this move to new offices in Edinburgh marks the next step in our amazing journey”
Zonal was originally based in the McLean family home on Forth Street and as the company grew the family acquired further properties on the street. These spaces are now being rented out to small businesses on a managed basis through Zonal’s subsidiary company, Edinburgh Office.
It was sad to say goodbye to Forth Street as it holds many memories, but Tanfield is far more representative of our highly sophisticated and cutting edge technologies. It was fitting to have Sir Brian Stewart officially open the office. Currently Chairman of C&C Group, Brian has a long history with Zonal, having been our first customer in the eighties. He helped steer the company through its early development and It’s a pleasure to have his continued support.
The new open plan offices include a state-of-the-art demonstration room showcasing the company’s products and services, training room, employee cafe, plus a fun room featuring a TV, pool table, table tennis and a retro games machine.
