Stuart McLean
Chief Executive Officer
Stuart has worked in many different roles and departments within the company prior to his appointment as Chief Executive in 1997. Stuart sees his role as the custodian of Zonal; and his passion for our customers is exemplified in our company culture and values. Under Stuart’s direction, and by listening and responding to our customers, Stuart has led Zonal’s continued investment in technology innovation.
Monique Shurmer
Chief of Staff
Since joining Zonal in 2018, Monique has been instrumental in ensuring our CEO Stuart’s long-term vision for the company is achieved. Often described as the ‘right hand’ to Stuart, her passion for our culture, history and our people has driven her dedication to the importance of internal communications so that everyone in the company, regardless of role and level shares in our core values and uniqueness of the culture that is Zonal.
Joel Chapman
Chief Operations Officer
Since joining Zonal in 2002, Joel, as CCO, led our Account management teams for Zonal’s large enterprise customers, always ensuring the highest possible standards of customer care and support and embedding our ‘customer first’ approach throughout the company. Now, as COO, Joel leads our vital, front-line, customer-facing operational teams which include our Helpcentre, Professional Services and Engineers, and our logistics and repairs centre.
Tim Chapman
Chief Commercial Officer
Since joining Zonal in 2013, Tim has been passionate about helping our hospitality customers improve the guest experience and drive better efficiencies and profits for their businesses. Adept at building a strong, long-lasting partnership approach to customer relationships, Tim excels at understanding and solving even the most complex of enterprise challenges. As CCO, Tim leads our sales, marketing and partnership teams.
Richard Hammond
CEO, Zonal Hospitality Systems Inc (USA)
Richard joined Zonal in 1989 and is one of Zonal’s longest-serving employees. In 1997, Richard relocated from the UK to Florida where he now leads and manages Zonal’s US operations. Before moving to Florida, Richard worked in many different roles within Zonal including Account Manager and Service Manager. Prior to joining Zonal, he worked at GEC Avery where he rose through the ranks from bench technician to run their electronic repair department.
Dan Brookman
CEO, Airship
Dan is CEO of Airship & Toggle which joined the Zonal Group in 2022. Launched in 2013, Airship is the UK hospitality’s leading CRM and customer engagement platform. In 2018, Dan created Toggle, so operators could boost revenues through online sales of gift cards and experiences. With more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Dan is hugely passionate about helping operators drive ROI through data, loyalty and technology.
Max Gee
Chief Customer Officer
With a passion for excellence in customer service, Max leads the Account Services department supporting Zonal’s customers large and small with a specialised and highly-experienced team of Account Managers. Since joining Zonal in 2012, Max has worked in key customer-facing roles leading to his appointment as Chief Customer Officer in September 2023.
Kris Rushton
Chief Financial Officer
Kris joined the Zonal finance team in 2016 and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2023 in recognition of his talent and passion for fostering collaboration between finance and other departments and skill in driving cross-functional teams to achieve common financial goals. With his deep understanding of the business and his financial expertise, Kris will continue to play a pivotal role in Zonal’s continued growth and achievements.
Howard McLean
Special Projects Director
After completing his degree in Hotel and Catering Management at Napier University, Howard ran the McLean family hotel near Edinburgh, The Allan Ramsay, where the family developed the first EPoS system. Since joining Zonal in 1981, Howard has worked in a variety of roles in the company, and today heads up Zonal’s Business Systems division which provides customers with insights through business analytics and reporting.
James McLean
Property Director
Since joining Zonal in 1984, James has worked in a variety of roles and departments across the company, including Hardware Engineering, Product QA, Help Centre Management and Property Management. Today, James manages all of Zonal’s properties, including Zonal’s serviced office business though our subsidiary company, Edinburgh Office.
Robin McLean
Non-executive Director
Robin supports the family business as a non-executive director at Zonal.
