Family Business of the Year Awards
Zonal has once again been shortlisted for the Scottish Family Business of the Year Awards 2018, having reached the finals in 2017.
Organised by Family Business United, the awards are now in their sixth year and recognise the diversity, strength and depth of family firms across the UK and seek to highlight the contribution that family firms make to the UK economy.
Zonal, established in 1979 when Ralph McLean created the first EPoS system, which developed into the current Aztec product range used in thousands of businesses throughout Scotland, the UK and the US, has revolutionised technology for the hospitality sector.
Zonal remains a family business with Ralph’s son Stuart McLean now chief executive and five family members on the board. Family values are important to the culture of the company and are at the heart of its relationship with its employees and customers.
“Zonal continues to go from strength to strength, and what better way than to be recognised by such a prestigious business award scheme. We’re proud to have reached this stage once again and join a shortlist of such prestigious businesses. These awards highlight how family firms, which can sometimes be perceived as conservative, can use their traditional values to their advantage to develop ground breaking solutions.”

Judged by a panel of experts from the world of family business advising together with a group of family business representatives, the awards are well respected and sought after accolades.
The winners will be presented with their awards at a gala reception taking place at The May Fair Hotel in London on June 7. In addition to the regional and national awards, online voting is also open for the People’s Choice Awards – so please vote for Zonal!
